New Regulation for Online Marketplaces

Since March 29, a new regulation has come into effect requiring online marketplaces to ensure that companies selling products through their platform comply with producer responsibility obligations.

Specifically, this means that online marketplaces must verify whether these companies are affiliated with the relevant compliance schemes (for solar panels, this is PV CYCLE Belgium). If they are not, the online marketplace must either refuse the company or assume producer responsibility on its behalf. In the latter case, the online marketplace joins the compliance scheme and submits declarations in the name of the concerned company.
